Watch The Today Show Model’s AMAZING Big Chop Makeover

I had the pleasure of interviewing the gorgeous model and jewelry designer, Malyia McNaughton, and she is far more than that single moment on the Today Show. If you recall, last summer summer, Malyia was the model chosen for a Today Show segment, wherein Beauty Expert, Deepica Mutyala, attempted to style Malyia’s beautiful natural locs. This was the result:

And here’s what Malyia says happened:

They had a few girls that came to do a trial. They called me at the 9th hour to come in at 5am the next day. So I did a bantu knot out, went to the show met Deepica backstage. She did a test run on me, and then we went out. I felt confident when she did the practice. I think she got nervous or frazzled and wanted to improvise.

In end, Malyia says, Deepica learned a lot and they continue to have a friendly relationship.

There is so much more, however,  to Malyia than her Today Show segment. Since the show, Maliya’s modeling agency has placed her on the top of their call sheet. And she’s partnered with the Madame C. Walker hair brand.  She’s also going to be the face of the SheaMoisture Cosmetics Line.

Malyia’s also expanded her goals for the next year:

I would like to be a spokesperson for women who are natural in the work place. I am a jewelry designer
(shop her line HERE.) I want my jewelry line to grow and evolve. I want to do it all.

I’m confident that she can. Have y’all seen her modeling pictures? #stunning:
